See an AI Agent in Action

Watch an AI agent check a fictional bakery’s website the way a new customer would, then stop and ask before doing anything important. You’ll learn what agents can do, where they need you, and how to try it safely.

  1. 1

    Give it one clear goal

“Act like a first-time customer ordering a birthday cake. Find prices, notice needed, and how to order. Stop before any form.”

  2. 2

    It works through the steps

The agent opens the site, finds the cakes page, and notes what’s missing, like a price range.

  3. 3

    It stops and asks

At the order form, it pauses for approval. The owner chooses Deny, so nothing is submitted.

  4. 4

    You review the result

You get the top three fixes. You check each one, because agents can misread pages, then make the changes yourself.

What’s the difference?

Assistants, agents, and automation

Three ways to put AI to work. Most business owners start with an assistant, then try an agent for one task.

Assistant

You ask, it answers. It drafts a reply, summarizes a review, or suggests a post. You copy and use it.

Agent

You give it a goal, it takes steps. It can open websites, read connected tools, and fill in forms. It should ask before anything important.

Automation

It runs on a schedule or trigger. For example, every Monday at 8am it summarizes last week’s inquiries, and you review the summary.

Real examples as of October 2026: ChatGPT and Gemini can both run tasks on a schedule. ChatGPT’s agent mode can use a browser on paid plans, and Gemini Agent is an experimental Google Labs feature. Both ask before consequential steps like sending or buying.

Can I try this myself?

The workflow from the video

This is one of seven guided workflows in the Starter Kit. Each one covers all seven parts: goal, tool, what you need, instructions, connections and approvals, review, and how to make it repeatable.

Access level: Read only. No sign-in needed. · Good for: Any business with a website

1 · Goal

An AI agent visits your website like a new customer, tries to find your key facts and next step, and gives you a short list of dead ends. It must stop before submitting anything.

2 · Tool
  • An agent that can open websites: ChatGPT Work with its cloud browser (paid ChatGPT plans, not Free or Go), Gemini Agent (an experimental Labs feature; availability varies), or Claude in Chrome.
  • No agent yet? Use the free version: paste your page text into any assistant and use the same instructions. You lose the clicking, not the lesson.
3 · What you need
  • Your website address
  • Three things a customer must be able to find (for example: price range, hours, how to book)
  • Your Business Facts sheet (from the Track B worksheet)
4 · Instructions
Act like a first-time customer visiting [YOUR WEBSITE]. I want to [GOAL A CUSTOMER HAS, e.g. book a haircut on Saturday / get a quote for a leaking water heater / order a birthday cake]. 1. Starting from the homepage, try to find: [FACT 1], [FACT 2], [FACT 3], and how to take the next step. 2. Count the clicks it takes. Note anything confusing, missing, slow, or broken. 3. If you reach a form, booking page, or checkout: STOP. Do not type my details, do not submit, do not pay. Tell me what the form asks for. 4. Do not sign in anywhere and do not ask me for passwords. Report back in this format: - What a customer can find easily - What was hard or missing (with the page address) - The 3 fixes that would help most, in plain words
5 · Connections & approvals
  • No accounts to connect. The agent only reads public pages.
  • If the agent asks to visit a site, allow your own site only.
  • If it ever asks to submit a form, sign in, or pay: choose Deny / Stop. Gemini Agent is designed to ask before submitting web forms; ChatGPT asks before consequential actions.
6 · Review & correct
  • Open each page it mentions and confirm the problem is real. Agents can misread pages.
  • Ignore suggestions that would add claims you cannot back up.
  • Pick one fix and make it yourself on your website.
7 · Make it repeatable
  • Save the instructions in a ChatGPT Project or a Gemini skill named "Website mystery shop".
  • Run it again after every website change, or once a month. Keep a dated note of what you fixed.
How do I stay in control?

Four rules before you connect anything

1

Start with read-only access

Let it read before it can change anything. Add more only when you trust the results.

2

Keep approvals on

Choose settings that ask before sending, buying, booking, or submitting forms. In ChatGPT that is “Always ask”. Gemini Agent asks by default.

3

Share only what the task needs

Never paste passwords, card numbers, or private customer details into an AI chat.

4

Review before anything goes out

You read, correct, and approve. You can disconnect a tool at any time.
